ITHACA aims to host information of Greeks who live and work abroad as faculty, researchers, and administrative officers in foreign academic institutions or other organizations (such as companies, foundations, laboratories of technology, medicine, humanities, social sciences, etc.) which are collaborating closely with academic institutions; and with non-Greek academics, researchers, executives, and administrative officers, whose scholarly or professional interests are closely connected to ancient and modern Greece.
This information is valuable in the context of the efforts of Greek universities for internationalization and extroversion, with the aim of developing collaborations with universities abroad, creating common study programs, summer schools and short-term programs, internships, research collaborations and other activities.

In the same context, ITHACA hosts the information of professionals and executives, of companies related to the activities of the universities such as, indicatively, laboratories and companies of technology, medicine, humanities and social sciences and anyone else who can contribute to this broad effort of Greece.

ITHACA is the first organized attempt of Greece to create such a repository. It aspires to become a valuable tool for all registered users, as it will help them expand their network both in Greece and abroad, by facilitating, and beyond that, suggesting connections and synergies with colleagues, departments, and schools from Greek Universities and from all over the world, who share common educational and research interests and work on similar projects.
