Shadowing & practical involvement internship in Greece for up to 40 hours per week at a well known NGO. Although Greece is a developed country and part of the European Union, it is facing real social challenges. The influx of high numbers of refuges, poverty and domestic violence are issues that affect all of us and there is a high need for people to help. Interns will support priorities for mental health, abuse, as well as working to support community members with diverse needs, such as the elderly, at-risk youth, and people with disabilities as well as in crises that arise from a natural disaster. Interns should be flexible to interact with diverse cultures and demographics and while they are not expected to be directly responsible for any client/patient care, they will provide services and care for people. Please note the degree of independence and nature of the tasks that Psychology interns will be assigned is dependent on your prior experience.
The accommodation is fully furnished (single or double beds), with WiFi, shared with 1-6 other same-sex interns, and located in safe areas with easy access to public transport and close to the hospital. The last night of the accommodation is the Friday night of the final week, leaving interns free to depart on Saturday. Extra nights of accommodation or private apartments can be arranged in advance, if requested and subject to availability.
