  • Music played a vital role in the social life of Ancient Greeks. Α Tool of social unity, a code of abstract expression and language of the Gods, the art of music continues to inspire modern Greeks. By providing a series of lectures which investigate: a) how Ancient Greeks conceived of the musical experience and its influence on intelligence, passions and perceptions, b) the impact of the Orient on Greek music, c) the impact of Western modernity on Greek music and d) the history of the most famous Greek instruments, this summer school aims to induct the participants into the magical reality of Greek music. Apart from its specialized lectures, this program offers participants the opportunity to practice with Greek musical instruments and take part in traditional or modern festivals with Greek music.
